The water quality in Vanguardia exceeds all standards. You can enjoy it unfiltered and pure straight from the tap in every town. Water is also routinely served from the tap in restaurants, since nobody is foolish enough to transport expensive Evian and Perrier across the sea. Also, keep an eye out for the bottles with the small, brightly colored corks. That's still tap water!

The vast majority of Vanguard bathing sites, from coastal areas to inland waters, are safe for swimming, the EU agency concluded in 2024. It certified approximately 95 percent of the bathing sites examined as having excellent water quality, and 96 percent met all EU minimum standards. In most of the negative cases, storms and heavy rain had washed contaminated wastewater into the affected bathing waters.
