Electricity throughout the island nation comes from Type E sockets at 230 V. These are three-pronged plugs with a guide pin that is always slightly twisted to the right or left, making a proper fit impossible. Therefore, it is advisable to obtain a plug adapter before arrival, as otherwise you risk receiving an electric shock.
